Programmable Op-Amp from Diodes Inc. Brings Power/Performance Flexibility


Diodes Incorporated has introduced its own variant of the TLC271 programmable op-amp.  The part offers a bias-select mode, enabling closer matching of power dissipation and AC performance with the specific requirements of battery-powered consumer and industrial products.

To help extend battery cell life, its low-bias mode helps reduce power dissipation, while medium and high bias modes progressively increase op-amp AC performance.  Bias modes can also be dynamically changed, allowing the device to idle in power-saving mode then switch to a defined high-performance mode in response to application demand.

Diodes Incorporated is partnering the release of its own SO-8 packaged TLC271 with a companion part, the TLC271L. This fixed-metal mask option has the bias-select pin removed and operates continuously in power-saving, low-bias mode.


Buck Converters from Diodes Inc. Enable Smarter Power Regulation


For low output voltage power regulation in digital TV, monitor and other high density, fast changing point-of-load system architectures, Diodes Incorporated has introduced a series of synchronous buck converters.  Employing adaptive constant on-time (AdCOT) control, the AP65450, AP65452 and AP65552 ensure high DC output accuracy, high efficiency and fast transient response.

For the 4A rated AP65450 converter, the AdCOT control supports seamless transition between a continuous conduction mode (CCM) at high loads to a discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) at light loads.  The 4A AP65452 and 5A AP65552 variants are designed to remain in CCM to help achieve better system noise reduction and filtering.


MOSFET Gate Drivers from Diodes Incorporated Boosts Conversion Efficiency


Diodes Incorporated has introduced a pair of compact 40V, 1A-rated gate drivers specifically designed to control the high-current power MOSFETs used in on-board and embedded power supplies and motor drive circuits. 

Enabling the MOSFETs to be more rapidly and fully switched on and off, the ZXGD3009E6 (SOT26 package) and ZXGD3009DY (SOT363 package) help minimize switching losses, improve power density and increase overall conversion efficiency.

Acting as a high-gain buffer stage for low-power control ICs, the devices can provide a typical drive current of 500mA from an input current of only 10mA, ensuring the desirable fast charging and discharging of the power MOSFET’s capacitive load.  The drivers’ switching capability is ultra-fast, with a propagation delay time of less than 5ns, and rise and fall times of less than 20ns.


Mini FETs from Diodes Incorporated Use 40% Less Space


Diodes Incorporated has extended its line of ultra-small discrete products for space-critical product design.  The company has announced a trio of small-signal MOSFETs in the tiny DFN0606 package: 20V and 30V rated N-channel transistors and a 30V rated P-channel part. 

With a footprint measuring only 0.6mm x 0.6mm, each device takes 40% less board space than the commonly used DFN1006 (aka SOT883) packaged MOSFETs, making them an ideal choice for next-generation wearable tech, tablets and smartphones.


ESD and Surge Protector from Diodes Inc. offers Easy Inspection


Diodes Incorporated has announced an automotive-quality graded ESD and surge protector offering improved protection, greater reliability and easier inspection during manufacturing compared to Zener-based and varistor devices.

Protecting CAN and LIN two-wire communications busses in automobiles from voltage transients is critical to their reliability and safety. The D24V0L1B2LPSQ is a low-capacitance, 15pF device with 0.2Ω dynamic resistance that provides sharper triggering than Zener diodes or varistors to provide a superior protection solution.  The tiny DFN1006-S-packaged automotive-grade component (AECQ101-qualified, supported by PPAP traceability) is also the first of its type to feature sidewall plating, sometimes known as ‘wettable flanks’. 


Simple, Constant-Current Linear Regulator from Diodes Inc


Diodes Incorporated’s AL5809, offered in a robust two-terminal PowerDI®-123 package, provides an improved accuracy, cost-effective solution for constant-current linear driving of LEDs. With its 1.2W maximum power dissipation, excellent 20ppm/°C temperature stability and high power-supply rejection ratio, the AL5809 delivers LED currents with a ±5% tolerance over a wide temperature range, greatly simplifying the solutions for its target applications of LED signage, LED strip lighting and low-current retrofit lamps.

The AL5809 is specified for the -40°C to +125°C temperature range, with an operating voltage (between the two terminals) from 2.5V to 60V and is offered in various fixed-output current versions; this removes the need for external current setting resistors. The PowerDI-123 package fixed-output current options are 15mA, 20mA, 30mA, 40mA, 50mA, 60mA, 90mA, 120mA and 150mA, while in the alternative SOD-123 package there are current output versions of 15mA, 20mA, 30mA, 40mA and 50mA.


1.0A Low Dropout Linear Regulator from DIODES Inc


The AZ1117E series is a low dropout positive voltage regulator, with a typical dropout of 1.1V at 1A of load current.  The device features on-chip thermal shutdown. It also includes a bandgap reference and a current limiting circuit.

It is available in an adjustable version and six fixed output versions of 1.2, 1.5,1.8, 2.5, 3.3 and 5V.  The adjustable version can set the output voltage with two external resistors.
